Practice

Practicing as a sole practitioner benefits my client in meaningful ways.

After being a partner in three architectural and planning firms, I realized I enjoy being an architect and the practice of architecture, more than managing staff and day-to-day office operations. Therefore I choose to be a sole practitioner.

As a seasoned architect, you can expect design expertise and vast experience during all phases of any given project. In addition, you’ll appreciate my genuine commitment and open communication, which is key to any successful client relationship.

With many architectural firms, the initial interview is with an owner or partner of a firm. The project is then assigned to a junior member who does not have comparable experience in design, construction documents, administration,

dealing with contractors and challenging jobsite issues.  This will not be the case with me, as you will have my full attention and I will oversee the project from beginning to end.

As your architect, you will have a highly qualified professional leading you through each phase of the project: needs and assessments, design, working drawings, project management. On the jobsite, thorough involvement in the project assists me to identify potential issues and challenges before, or as they arise quicker, minimizing contractor built mistakes.

One of my strengths is an ability to naturally connect and effectively communicate with individuals. I am friendly, easy to work with, respectful, but most of all, creative. I am known for having a quick wit and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with the projects.

Appointed member to the City of Edmonds Architectural Design Board.

Incorporated in 1982.

Being a general contractor is a challenging job.

With years of experience on jobsites, I understand the complexity of construction and believe it important to give contractors their due respect. On jobsites, contractors can be the client's worst enemy making the project difficult and grueling. Or, they can be your best friend giving you a quality and relatively stress free project. I strive to maintain excellent working relationships through honest, open and respectful communication.

In return, contractors and trades respect me for being effective at quickly troubleshooting issues to keep the project moving forward. When mistakes or problems arise, as they will, I do not play the “blame game.” Instead, I listen to what contractors have to say while in search of a solution. Then, all issues are openly discussed with the contractor and when warranted, the client. I always consider all options to find a quick, but effective, resolution for the client while maintaining the integrity of the design.

My ability to maintain a positive attitude, think creatively, objectively and effectively gives me a successful track record with contractors.
